Geology
Short characteristics of the site: The active quarry exploiting the Silurian and Devonian limestones. The whole Palaeozoic section was stratigraphicallly reclassified and some new terms proposed, such as "the Prachovice Beds". Several limestone layers are fossil-bearing and recently microfauna was studied. Partly the correlation with the Barrandian stratotypes is possible. Some veinlets of hydrothermal origin transect the limestone body. That is why many minerals were found in the quarry and its surroundings. Karst features of different sort can be observed in the limestones. This locality belongs to the National Geopark "Železné hory- the Iron Mts.".
