Geology

Short characteristics of the site: Active quarries with quarry walls showing interesting rocks. The fine grained biotite granite with muscovite, called the Žumberk granite prevails. Two stages of its emplacement can be recognized, the older one is represented by a tonalite with xenoliths of dioritic rocks. They are overlained by subvolcanic mantle rocks of the Lukavice Group. Their cmposition corresponds to rhyodacites with their tuffites. In places lamprofyres and pegmatite veins were found, They are accompanied by pyrite and epidote accumulations. This locality belongs to the National Geopark "Železné hory - the Iron Mountains".
