Geology

Short characteristics of the site: This locality belongs to the landslide hazardous area. It is located at the southern margin of the Bohemian Cretaceous Basin. The Cretaceous sediments consist of claystones, siltstones and marlstones of the Jizera Formation (Middle up to Late Turonian). Cretaceous sediments are overlain by clayey, sandy and stony Quaternary sediments of deluviofluvial origin. This area is risky and heavy rains can cause landslides. Large landslide took place. in 1899. This area belongs to the National network of Geopark "Železné hory . the Iron Mountains."
