Geology

Short characteristics of the site: This locality is represented by a small quarry exposing Cretaceous sediments. It is placed at the southern margin of the Bohemian Cretaceous Basin. Because of erosion of Late Cretaceous sediments only basal Peruc-Korutany Formation of Cenomanian age has been preserved. Its sediments consist of sandstones, calcareous sandstones up to sandy limestones. Surrounding area is covered by stones and blocks Cretaceous sediments. Some of them are fossil-bearing. This locality belongs to the Bohemian Cretaceous Basin.
