Geology
Short characteristics of the site: Roadcutting show one of the best locality of calc-silicate rocks (erlans) on the map sheet Rokytnice n. Jizerou. The erlans layer is embedded within calcareous phyllites, close to the contact with orthogneiss. Small lenses of limestones are intercalated within erlan, bigger bodies are in the close proximity. The erlans are typically banded, the banding is caused by various content of K-feldspar and epidote (grey-greenish colour), vs. rose colour. The erlans contas a large amount of fine grained K feldspar, epidote, minor diopsid pyroxene, chlorite and titanite, Quartz and oqaque mineral are accessories.
