Geology
Short characteristics of the site: This locality is situated in slopes overlooking a meandering Kamenice River cut. It is formed by several rocky cliffs made of metabasites of the Železná Brod volcanic complex. It contains lava pillows as broad as 1 metre across. These submarine lva flows are of the Cambrian age and their mineral composition corresponds to the environmental conditions of an origin of green schists. Following minerals prevail: Albite, chlorite, epidote, actinolite and hornblene. Chemical composition corresponds to that of P-MORB basalts. This locality belongs to the Lausatien and Krkonoše-Jizera Massifs.
