Geology
Short characteristics of the site: The active quarry situated in the eastern part of the Železné hory pluton. The amphibole-biotite granodiorite with some veins represents main rock type. This rock is also called "the Hlinsko granite".The quarrying of block takes advantage of omnipresent jointing. So the blocks can be more easily modelled into planned fashion. Thus the utilization of this rock is very extensive. Around this quarry weathering of granodiorite which results in variable shapes can be observed. Sphaeroidal weathering also takes part. This locality belongs to the National Geopark "Železné hory - the Iron Mts.".
