Geology

Short characteristics of the site: This locality is represented by a group of abandoned pit quarries. They belong to the Železné hory plutonic Ccomplex (Now this part is called the Nasavrky Pluton). The most abundant rock can be called grey-reddish coarse grained amphibole- biotite granite, which contains numerous enclaves of mafic magmatic rocks. Nearby rock affected by contact metamorphism are present. Some of them can be called cordieritic cherts. They were exploited and used for construction of kerbstones. Later the pits have been flooded and now sme of them are used for recreation. The locality belongs to the National Gweopark "Železné hory - the Iron Mts."
