Geology

Short characteristics of the site: This locality is of hydrogeological interest. It is located in the southwestern part of the Železné hory pluton with its mantle. The basement rocks consist of biotite migmatites and granodiorites. Such rocks with their regolith represent good groundwater collectors. In the whole area many springs of various type occur. So called scree springs are important.In the area also old quarries are present, one of them having exploited diorite. The locality belongs to the National Geopark "Železné hory - the Iron Mts."
