Geology
Short characteristics of the site: This locality is called "Červený kopec - the Red Hill". It can be characterized as a series of outcrops along the Svratka River coast with small abandoned quarry. Basal Devonian deposits are exposed there. They consist of quartzose conglomerates and overlying subarkoses with dispersed larger quartz clasts. The conglomerate contains rounded and subrounded quartz clasts together with some black chart, granite and gneiss clasts. The section represents alternation of conglomerates and sandstones, sometimes graded and oblique bedding is present. As to the sedimentary environment, it is supposed that these deposits represent a product of alluvial fans. This locality is recommended for protection.
