Geology
Short characteristics of the site: This locality displays complex geological composition. It belongs to the Bohemian Cretaceous Basin, but its underlying base is formed by basalt body. The Cretaceous sediments mostly fill depressions on this basalt surface. They are of the Cenomanian and Lower Turonian ages. The Cretaceous sediments in mentioned depressions (called also "pockets) contain rich fauna which evidences great variability of benthic life on a bottom of the Cretaceous sea. The list of fauna is very long, so we mention only pelecypods, brachiopods, corals, worms, etc. This locality belongs to the National Geopark "Železné hory - the Iron Mountains."
Regional geologic unit: Bohemian Massif - superficial deposits and post-Variscian magmatites - Cretaceous - Czech Cretaceous Basin
