Geology

Short characteristics of the site: This locality is called "Rychmburk andˇŠilinkův důl - the Rychmburk Castle and the Šilinkś mine". The rocks belong to the Hlinsko Zone of Proterozoic and Early Palaeozoic ages. So called Rychmburk Greywacke consists of greaywackes with interlayers of schists. Some graptolite fossils were found, bu exact stratigraphic position of these beds is not yet clear (according to earler and recent ideas these beds might be of Proterozoic, Ordovician and also Culm ages. The small river Krounka valley is of canyon character in places and numerous rock outcrops follow its banks. This locality belongs to the National Park Železné hory - The Iron Mountains.
