Geology
Short characteristics of the site: This locality occurs in the geological unit called the Hlinec Zone (Proterozoic-Palaeozoic) and its Mrákotín Formation. The lower part of the sequence is formed of volcanosedimentary rocks which suffered contact metamorphism and tectonic deformation. Different stages of contact metamorphism can be observed, from spotted shale, through chiastolithic shale and andalusitic shale up to cordieritic chert. Graptolite fauna is preserved in graphitic shales, silicites and radiolarites which evidences the Silurian age of sediments. The locality belongs to the National Geopark "Železné hory- the Iron Mts."
