Geology

Short characteristics of the site: Permocarboniferous, Central and Western Bohemia. Abandoned quarry with outcrops of laminated clayey siltstones and sandstones (Malesice Beds, Stephanian B age). Siltstones are rich in organic matter and also contain siderite concretions. Rich fossil flora was collected and described. Preserved lamination and elevated organic matter content speak in favour of deeper water lacustrine depositional environment.
