Geology

Short characteristics of the site: Krkonoše Piedmont Basin, Lower Rotliegend (Autunian), Kalná member. Road cut exposes 10 m thick section of the Kalná member in its northernmost occurence. Reddish siltstones and sandstones on the base, overlain by variegated lacustrine limestones and marlstones. Lamination is common, in some parts ripple marks and mud cracks can be observed. Abundant coprolites in limestones. Sediments were deposited in a shallow ephemeral lake (Blecha et al. 1999).
