Geology

Short characteristics of the site: Krkonoše Piedmont Basin, Permian, Upper Rotliegend (Saxonian). Conglomerate of the Horní Město Beds of the Trutnov Formation. It is of petromictic character, with subangular pebbles up to 30 cm large, with matrix consisting of coarse-grained carbonatic sandstone. Conglomerate is massive, locally with cross bedding and low-angle cross bedding.
Regional geologic unit: Bohemian Massif - superficial deposits and post-Variscian magmatites - Upper Carboniferous and Permian - Lugic Late Palaeozoicum (including Triassic deposits)
