Geology

Short characteristics of the site: Bohemian Cretaceous Basin. Isolated elevation made by alterated basanite, rimmed by pyroclastic rocks. This basanite occurrence represents a volcanic conduit and contains numerous mantle xenoliths. The pyroclastic rocks are exposed in a nearby abandoned quarry. Origin of this complex is explained as a product of freatomagmatic eruption of a Surtsey type.
