Geology

Short characteristics of the site: The Rysová hora hill is the excellent example of tectonic outlier of the Rača Nappe on the Silesian Nappe. The outlier composed mostly of thick sandstones (Křivé Mb. of the Zlín Fm.) and by red claystones of the Kaumberg Fm. forms the cap of the hill. The Rožnov, Menilite and Krosno formations of the Silesian Unit crop out in the slopes. The load of the tectonic outlier on the relatively plastic underlying rocks generated extensive landslides covering the hillsides.
Regional geologic unit: Carpathian - Flysch belt - Magurian group of nappes, Carpathian - Flysch belt - Outer (Menilit-Krosněny) group of nappes
Stratigraphy: kenozoikum - paleogén, mezozoikum - křída - svrchní křída
