Geology
Short characteristics of the site: Račany Unit, Eocene Magura Group of Nappes. Oucrops in a bank of Bečva River. Oucrop series 200 m exposing Zlín Beds. This sequence consists of alternation of calcareous sandstones up to sandy limestones with claystones. Graded bedding and lamination are abundant. Neptunic dyke of sandstones within claystones is remarkable. Sandstone is medium grained with rounded and subrounded quartz grains. In limestones fauna is locally abundant, consisting of forams, algae and bryozoa. Planktonic forams allow age identification - Upper Eocene up to Lower Oligocene. This locality is situated in the Protected Labndscape Area Beskydy.
