Geology
Short characteristics of the site: Bohemian part of the Intrasudetic Basin, Upper Carboniferous. Basaltandesite (melaphyre) part of the Petrovice Beds of the Žacléř Formation. Two lava flows can be recognized, lower one with distinct columnar jointing. Upper flow is in contact with overlying sandstones of the Petrovice Beds. Basaltandesite is fine-grained, of microporphyric up to porphyric texture, and with intersertal groundmass. Some phenocrysts, as calcite-limonite pseudomorphs after olivine, are abundant.
Regional geologic unit: Bohemian Massif - superficial deposits and post-Variscian magmatites - Upper Carboniferous and Permian - Lugic Late Palaeozoicum (including Triassic deposits)
Stratigraphy: paleozoikum - karbon - svrchní karbon - siles
Subject: petrology
Geological phenomenon: lava flow
Genesis: volcanic
Rock: melaphyre, basalt
