Geology
Short characteristics of the site: Moldanubian Central Massif, Melechov Massif. System of outcrops exposing medium grained, banded muscovite-biotite orthogneiss. Main rock forming minerals: plagioclase, potassium feldspar, muscovite, biotite. Quartz is intensively recrystallized into flat elongated bands. Feldspars are sericitized, biotite chloritized and showing deformation into kink bands. Muscovite is mostly of secondary origin.
Regional geologic unit: Bohemian Massif - crystalline complex and pre-Variscian Palaeozoic - Moldanubicum - Metamorphic units in Moldanubicum
Stratigraphy: paleozoikum až proterozoikum
Subject: geology, petrology
Geological phenomenon: horizontal section, characteristic rock
Genesis: metamorphic (general metamorphism)
Rock: orthogneiss
