Geology
Short characteristics of the site: Brno Massif, western part. Active quarry exhibiting folded partly migmatized muscovite-biotite up to biotite gneisses. Except of common rock forming minerals they contain cordierite, sillimanite and garnet. Migmatized parts are banded with biotitic melanosome and quartz-feldspar leucosome. Also several metres thickl veins of medium grained biotite up to muscovite-biotite granites occur in this quarry. In the lowermost quarry parts bodies of metagabbro are present.
Regional geologic unit: Bohemian Massif - crystalline complex and pre-Variscian Palaeozoic - Moravosilesian region - Brunovistulicum
Stratigraphy: proterozoikum
Subject: geology, mineralogy, petrology
Geological phenomenon: rock
Genesis: metamorphic (general metamorphism), metamorphic (contact metamorphism), magmatic
Rock: migmatite, granite, gabbro
Territorial conservation
Level of protection: Registered interesting geological localities
Protection of a geol. phenomenon: C - Geological phenomenon is the reason for a registration in the database of CGS
