Geology
Short characteristics of the site: Brno Massif, diorite zone. Outcrops on flat plain covered with loess. Rock cliff about 3 m high. This plain is also covered by gravel which belongs to the Tuřany terrace (upper parts of the Early Pleistocene). This gravel consists mainly of subrounded and sharp edged pebbles of gneiss.Lenses of sand occur within gravel layer. Outcrops of fine grained diorite of the Brn Massif occur on the opposite shore of dam lake. This rock contains alternating bands enriched either with hornblende of plagioclase.Locally this diorite is cut by veins of granodiorites, basalts and pegmatites.
