Geology
Short characteristics of the site: Brno Massif, metamorphic mantle. Series of outcrops along the Vrbovec brook. Alternation oof siliceous gneisses and metamorphosed tuffs. They contain an interlayer of fine grained mylonitized amphibolites and lenses of tremolitic crystalline limestones. Rocks are gently folded and foliated. Crystalline limestones contain interesting association of minerals: Variable amount of dolomite, tremolite, chlorite, apatite and talk. Nearby diorite outcrops are separated by a fault line.
Regional geologic unit: Bohemian Massif - crystalline complex and pre-Variscian Palaeozoic - Moravosilesian region - Brunovistulicum
Stratigraphy: proterozoikum - neoproterozoikum (1000 - 542 Ma)
Subject: structural geology, volcanology
Geological phenomenon: rock, landslide, horizontal section
Genesis: metamorphic (general metamorphism)
Rock: tuff, amphibolite, marble, dolomite, mylonite
Territorial conservation
Level of protection: Registered interesting geological localities
