Geology

Short characteristics of the site: Moldanubian magmatites, Central Massif, Nové Hrady Mts. Kuní Hora summit ridge with outcrops of medium grained porphyric granite of the Weinsberg type. Rock forming minerals: quartz, plagioclase, potassium feldspar, biotite. Interesting mesorelief forms, different types of granite weathering, common exfoliation phenomena, including castle koppies, frost scarps and kryoplanation terraces.
Regional geologic unit: Bohemian Massif - crystalline complex and pre-Variscian Palaeozoic - Moldanubicum - Magmatites in Moldanubicum
