Geology

Short characteristics of the site: Bohemian Cretaceous Basin, Tertiary volcanite. Abandoned quarry exhibiting basanite dyke cutting volcanic breccia. This breccia contains basanite blocks as large as 1 m and xenolites of Cretaceous sediments. Possibly basanite filled a volcanic conduit during freatomagmatic eruption. Radiomatric age is 24.6 Ma.
