Geology
Short characteristics of the site: Neovolcanic rocks of the Bohemian Massif. Bohemian Cretaceous Basin. Small outcrops and abandoned quarry on a distinct elevation. They expose pyroclastic rocks consisting of sharp edged basanite fragments. It originated by freatomagmatic eruption of the Surtsey type. Now it represents only a relic of volcanic cone. Its Pliocene age is probable. Radiometric dating was not successful because of postvolcanic changes. This locality is situated in the Protected Landscape Area Český ráj - the Bohemian Paradise.
