Geology

Short characteristics of the site: The Krušné hory (Erzgebirge) Mts. Crystalline. Outcrops of massive, greenish, fine grained eclogites with large hornblende porphyroblasts. Hornblende crystals are locally accumulated. Nearby, outcrops of fine grained basanite with 2-8 mm large olivine phenocrysts can be found.
Regional geologic unit: Bohemian Massif - crystalline complex and pre-Variscian Palaeozoic - Saxothuringicum - Krušné hory and Smrčiny crystalline complexes
