Geology

Short characteristics of the site: Vienna Basin, Moravian part. A ridge partly covered by loess. On the ridge summit abandoned sand pit occurs where sands, calcareous sands and bioclastic fossiliferous limestones are exposed. These sediments stratigraphically belong to the Middle and Upper Badenian. In sands numerous fossils were found and studied, also shark teeth were described from this locality. This locality is classified as a Nature Monument and situated in the Protected Landscape Area Pálava.
