Geology

Short characteristics of the site: Abandoned quarry and surrounding outcrops. Lower part of the uppermost member of the Žacléř Formation is exposed (Petrovice Member, Westphalian B-C): coarse grained conglomerate with prevailing pebbles of light grey orthoquartzite (facies of Hronov conglomerate). Stratigraphically important locality.
Regional geologic unit: Bohemian Massif - superficial deposits and post-Variscian magmatites - Upper Carboniferous and Permian - Lugic Late Palaeozoicum (including Triassic deposits)
