Geology

Short characteristics of the site: Moravosilesian Palaeozoic, the Moravian Karst. Locality called "the Balcar cliff". It is just on contact of the Devonian limestone and Culm greywackes and shales. Devonian karstified limestones belong to the Vilémovice Limestone and Křtiny Limestone. Out of superficial karst features underground streams (ponores) and karren fields are to be mentioned, together with one larger abyss. Several cave systems are present, one of them is archeologically important (Magdalenian).
