Geology

Short characteristics of the site: This locality is represented by rock cliffs overlooking the Dyje (Thaya) River valley. The geoloogical basement is formed of Moldanubian orthogneisses. In places they enclose lenses of the dark amphibolitse and also of light erlans. Such erlans are rich in calcium carbonate which affects a local vegetation. This locality belongs to the metamorphic units in the Moldanubicum.
