Geology
Short characteristics of the site: The rocky outcrops of the Nýřady Beds (Rakovník City). The coarse-and medium grained sandstone prevail in the outcrops accompanied by siltstone, clayey sediments and some conglomerates. The sandstones are represented by subarkoses, in some layers they contain gravel clasts. In places also fine grained kaolinized sandstones with layers of laminated claystone occur. All these terrestrial sediments were deposited in river flows and shallow fresh water basins. In siltstone layers rich flora remains were found. This outcrop belongs to the Nýřany Beds and regionally to the Central Bohemian and West Bohemian Late Palaeozoic.
