Geology

Short characteristics of the site: Silesicum and Žulová Massif. Abandoned open pit quarries and underground mining workings where quartz was exploited. Now mineralogical locality. Two quartz veins 2 -14 metres thick. Quartz was of a good quality, with more than 99 per cent of silica. Already during 16th century this raw material was used in glass industry. Later this deposit was abandoned and now both superficial and underground workings are flooded.
