Geology
Short characteristics of the site: Tertiary, dispersed occurrences of alkaline volcanics in Western Bohemia. Isolated elevation with abandoned shelf quarry. Only relics of larger basalt extrusion is preserved. Such an extrusion took part into water saturated environment and therefore lava spheroidal exfoliation resulted. Such rock structure was inconvenient for massive exploitation for aggregate production. Nevertheless, this well accessible locality is instructive.
Regional geologic unit: Bohemian Massif - superficial deposits and post-Variscian magmatites - Tertiary - Dispersed Alcalic volcanits
Stratigraphy: kenozoikum - terciér (paleogén - neogén)
Subject: economic geology, geomorphology, petrology, volcanology
Geological phenomenon: lava, characteristic rock
Genesis: volcanic
Rock: basalt
Territorial conservation
