Geology
Short characteristics of the site: Quaternary, areas of continental glaciation. Erratic boulders, originally deposited with sands, later found during quarrying in a sand pit and now placed in an exhibition ground in the Ostrava City. The diameter of largest of them is greater as 100 cm. They consist of porphyric granitoids with potassium feldspar phenocrysts. Two smaller boulders consist of a metaquartzite. These erratics come from the Scandinavian Shield, possibly from Sweden. The locality is classified as a Nature Monument.
