Geology

Short characteristics of the site: Old minings and a spoil tip at Granátový vrch Hill SW of Měrunice, Teplice area. The hiss is formed by pyrope-bearing basaltic diatreme. Pyrope was extracted in the 20th century in shafts reaching a depth of ca. 60 m. Outcrops also display sedimentary fill of the former maar depression. Xenoliths of garnet peridotite, taken to the surface by the basaltic eruption, can be found.
