Geology

Short characteristics of the site: An outcrop on top of Lesenská pláň Hill at Lesná, S of Hora Sv. Kateřiny. Two basic types of orthogneisses of the Hora Sv. Kateřiny are exposed: coarse-grained muscovite-biotite orthogneiss with augen structure on hilltop passes to muscovite-biotite orthogneiss with leaflike structure. Tertiary weathering products of these rocks are locally preserved. Frost weathering during the Pleistocene produced a boulder field at the foot of the hill. This locality is recommended for protection.
