Geology
Short characteristics of the site: Vienna Basin, Moravian part, Neogene. Outcrops near the Bzenec Castle show calcareous muscovitic sand with silty and clayey layers. This sand passes upwards into calcareous silt. Sediments are rich in microfauna, mainly ostracods and sponge spicules, of Pannonian age.
