Geology

Short characteristics of the site: Boskovice Graben, Permocarboniferous. Natural outcrops on the Svratka River bank. Several types of the Bíteš orthogneiss are overlain by sediments of the Boskovice Graben. Their contact is tectonic. The base of Permian sequence is formed by conglomerates with angular clasts, upwards better sorting and clast rounding can be seen. Clast materials consist of Bíteš orthogneisses, phyllites, limestones and quartz. Some sandstones, siltstones and clayey sandstones form interlayers in the conglomerate sequence. They are rippled and contain plant debris.
Regional geologic unit: Bohemian Massif - crystalline complex and pre-Variscian Palaeozoic - Moravosilesian region - Moravicum, Bohemian Massif - superficial deposits and post-Variscian magmatites - Upper Carboniferous and Permian - Late Palaeozoicum of furrows
