Geology

Short characteristics of the site: The Moldanubian magmatites in an active quarry, The vein of diorite porphyry transects older body of leucocratic muscovite granite. Mentioned diorite porphyry offers important material for decoration and building purposes. Pavement of Kašparské Hory and Sušice towns is constructed of this stone. Although advanced biotitizing process, this diorite porphyry sustains its rock strength.Rock forming minerals are represented by labradorite, biotite, chlorite and ilmenite.
