Geology

Short characteristics of the site: Some important karst localities in the Třesín Massif are protected. Of them, the Mladeč Caverns are most notable. The cave called Na Štole was discovered by a prospect entry and is recently used for a speleotherapeutic purposes. The karst pipes (also called the stone organ) are now best preserved in an abandoned quarry near the road. This locality is registered as Nature Monument.

V opuštěném lomu Brodka mezi Mladčí a Měrotínem jsou v šedých lavicovitých devonských vápencích vyvinuty tzv geologické varhany. Ty vznikaly tak, že nadložními sedimenty a zvětralinami prosakovala voda, která rozpouštěla vápenec a vytvářela v něm typické lalokovité a trubicovité útvary. V nich se potom usazovaly přemístěné zvětraliny i fluviální štěrky. Valouny štěrků dokládají transport materiálu z okolních hornin tzv. kulmské facie – drob, prachovců a břidlic. , Jiří Otava, 2006
