Geology

Short characteristics of the site: Krkonoše-Jizera crystalline. Abandoned shelf quarry with magmatites of the Lusatian region. In the quarry wall fine grained granite with biotite and abundant quartz-feldspar concretions is exposed. This type of granite forms younger dome-like intrusion in the Liberec granite. This rocks was formerly quarried intensively for production of pavement cubes and this type of pavement is typical for for the centre of the Liberec City.
