Geology

Short characteristics of the site: Permocarboniferous, Central Bohemia. Dominant hill with outcrops and several old quarries. Silicified quartzose sandstones and arkoses were quarried there for stonemasonry and millwheel production. Stratigraphically these sediments belong to the Nýřany Beds of the Kladno Formation. Sediments were deposited mostly in a fluvial depositional environment.
