Geology
Short characteristics of the site: A hill formerly called Flössberg near Rotava with an abandoned quarry. The quarry exposes a relict of a Tertiary volcano with lava of nepheline basanite to olivine nephelinite with perfectly developed columnar jointing of an inverted-fan arrangement. The columns are 12 m tall and pass to porous, xenolith-rich lava in the west. A nature reserve.
