Geology
Short characteristics of the site: This locality belongs to the Bohemian Cretaceous Basin. It is of a cuesta form with outcrops on its front slope. The abandoned quarry wall also exposes the Upper Cretaceous sediments of the Jizera Beds (Turonian age). The fine grained sandstones, spongiolites and "opukas" prevail in the section Also cherts are present. Along the slope foot glauconitic sandstones of the Peruc-Korycany Beds (Cenomanian) occur. Traces of former quarrying of refraktory clays are numerous.
