Short characteristics of the site: Rudník Horizon of Vrchlabí Formation (Autunian): Dark grey to black mudstones and calcareous claystones, often bituminous, thin bedded, with thin banks of bituminous clayey limestones. They contain plant fossils (especially - calipterids)and animal fossils (fish, sharks, tetrapods, controstracs, water vertebrats).
Regional geologic unit: Bohemian Massif - superficial deposits and post-Variscian magmatites - Upper Carboniferous and Permian - Lugic Late Palaeozoicum (including Triassic deposits)
