Geology

Short characteristics of the site: The protected locality represent a remnant of partly eroded and quarried scoria cone with basanitic feeder dike exploited by an abandoned quarry. The conduit breccia exposed in the lowermost part of the quarry passes to superficial phreatomagmatic deposits of the basalt phreatomagmatic layer, covered by a remnant of scoriae of the eroded scoria cone. The feeding dyke was K-Ar dated to 17.32 ± 0.86 Ma (Cajz et al. 2009).
