Geology

Short characteristics of the site: The Mist Basin. A relic of volcanic complex of the České Středohoří Mts. On the base, Upper Cretaceous marine sediments are developed. Along the boundary between Cretaceous sediments and volcanics small outcrops of diatomites can be found. They are fossiliferous and contain abundant Paleogene macro- and microflora. In the abandoned limestone quarry the boundary beds between Middle and Upper Cretaceous are exposed.
