Geology

Short characteristics of the site: Kutná Hora and Čáslav Crystalline. Doubrava River valley. Valley slopes and river channel expose two-mica, locally stromatitic migmatite and ligh two-mica orthogneiss, locally also biotitic paragneiss. Very instructive series in which petrologic and structural interrelationships can be studied. Interesting tectonic phenomena, folding and foliation planes. Also great variety of exogenic features, including exfoliation and selecticve weathering.
Regional geologic unit: Bohemian Massif - crystalline complex and pre-Variscian Palaeozoic - Kutná Hora and Svratka region - Kutná Hora crystalline complex
Stratigraphy: proterozoikum
Subject: geomorphology, petrology
Geological phenomenon: outcrop, canyon, meander
Genesis: metamorphic (general metamorphism), aquatic (water activity), tectonic
Rock: orthogneiss, migmatite
